Ba Na Hills: Golden Bridge, Cable Car & What Nobody Tells You

The famous Golden Bridge is just the beginning. Here is what to actually expect at Ba Na Hills — including what to skip, what to prioritise, and how to beat the crowds.

Ba Na Hills is one of the most visited attractions in Central Vietnam — and for good reason. Sitting at 1,487 metres above sea level in the Truong Son mountains, it offers a surreal escape from the heat of Da Nang below. The Golden Bridge, supported by two giant stone hands, has become one of the most photographed spots in all of Vietnam.

What is Ba Na Hills?

Ba Na Hills is a large resort and theme park complex built by Sun Group. It includes the world-record-breaking cable car, the iconic Golden Bridge, a French village, a fantasy amusement park, gardens, restaurants, and panoramic mountain views. It is a full-day destination — allow at least 6 to 7 hours.

How to Get There

Ba Na Hills is 25 km west of Da Nang — about 45 minutes by private car. The road winds through beautiful mountain valleys. I always recommend leaving Da Nang by 7:30 AM to arrive when the cable car opens, before the large tour buses arrive.

Local Tip

Sue’s Tip: Bring a light jacket even in summer — the summit temperature is 8–10°C cooler than Da Nang. It can be misty and cool in the morning, which actually makes the landscape look magical.

Golden Bridge: Tips for the Best Photos

  • Go first thing in the morning — the light is beautiful and crowds are minimal
  • Walk to the far end of the bridge for the clearest view back toward the stone hands
  • On clear days you can see all the way to Da Nang city and the coastline
  • If it is misty, be patient — the mist rolls in and out, creating dramatic moments
  • The best photos are taken from below the bridge looking up — ask staff for the walking path

Is It Worth It for Families?

Absolutely. The Fantasy Park amusement rides are great for children, and the French village has a carousel and wide open plazas for kids to run around. I provide NuNa Exec child seats for the drive, so the journey is comfortable and safe for little ones. The cable car itself is a big highlight for kids — it is the longest single-track cable car in the world.
